Nairobi NP – On the morning of 5 februari 2018, a team of KWS (Francis Lesilau), Leo foundation (Hans de Iongh) en CML, Leiden University (Kevin Groen) have decollarred two lions
The lions were collared in Februari 2016, and those sattellite collars did send data about the locations and movements of those individuals for 1,5 years. It turned out that those lions left the park regularly to attack livestock of local pastoralists. The collars have helped us to determine hotspots for conflicts and to chase the lions back to the park when needed
The collars have now been taken of the animals, because the did not sent data anymore. One of the two lions will probably be collared again in august with financial help of external sponsors.
