After her study Wildlife Ecology at Wageningen University & Research (WUR), with her MSc thesis on the population ecology of the Kobus kob kob in Northern Cameroon, the importance of communication for successes in fieldwork and conservation became clear. After a second MSc thesis in Public Communication, Monja started working as a communication adviser. Transitioning from the field of agricultural education to the world of Waste and Recycling, with a focus on being connected and sustainability. Her fields of interests are liveability, social impact and nature conservation. Doing something that makes a difference.
Monja is currently a district manager at the municipality of Arnhem and is committed to greening, sustainability and inclusion. She is proud to be a board member of Leo Foundation. Furthermore, she is a volunteer guide in the beautiful Burgers’ Zoo. Nature is an expert in change management, optimal collaboration and good communication. So we can learn a lot from nature!
